Baby steps to your projects success

The Design Process
____________________________________________________________________________
Each clients project is different, but all are tailored to specifically meet your needs
and to carefully “fit” the style of your home and property. The process from beginning
to end involves the following general steps:
____________________________________________________________________________
Pre-design:

Step 1        Measuring the existing home.
Step 2        Conducting an in-depth question and answer session with the client.
Step 3        Creating the existing condition plans and elevations of your home.

Concept Design:  (The first “design” stage)

Step 4        Create concept floor plans and concept elevations.
Step 5        Add preliminary notes to these drawings for  “Budget Pricing.”

Budget Pricing:

Step 6        Issue the "Budget Pricing" drawings to your general contractor or
to Contractors I recommend and work with closely to produce an estimate of the likely cost.
This helps answer the question “How much will the project cost? ”

Construction Drawings:  (The second “design” stage)

Step 7        Create the construction drawings for the project.
Step 8        Issue the drawings to the general contractor of your choice for an updated cost estimate.
                       1.  These highly technical drawings are required by local authorities
                            for permit.
                       2.  These drawings specify the necessary detail that allows the general
contractor to produce a complete cost estimate for the client before
entering into the construction contract with the general contractor.
                       3.  These drawings have all the information that your project is built from.

Step 9    Begin Construction.
